
Our goal is to have a wonderful well-designed product to help keep your children connected to you -- wherever you are. SafetyTats are different than temporary tattoos you might find in a novelty shop. We must use different materials in order to make temporary tattoos in small quantities and customize them for you. Each order is made individually and there can be slight variation in overall "stickiness", so please be sure to test your tattoos as soon as you receive them to make sure they stick well. They can be a bit tricky, but with a little practice, you'll be a tattoo pro!
Here are a few customer questions we've received about SafetyTats
How long will it take to receive my SafetyTats?
SafetyTats are customized and processed within 3-5 business days of placing your order, then shipped via US Postal Service from Baltimore, Maryland.
Why can't I add multiple designs and phone numbers to my order?
Currently you cannot order multiple designs at the same time. We are working on a new shopping cart to add this feature that will be ready in July.
Why am I sent to PayPal's website to complete my order?
We have chosen PayPal as our secure credit card processor. You do not need a PayPal account to complete your order. You can pay with any major credit card. When we launch our new shopping cart system in July, all orders will be processed securely on safetytat.com (customers will not leave our site to check out).
Do SafetyTats contain latex?
No. The adhesive is acrylic-based and does not contain latex. We suggest to please be cautious and do a small test area with your tattoos prior to applying for long durations.
Why doesn't my SafetyTat stick well to my child's skin?
We have found that if this occurs, it may be caused by one of two things: your child has sunscreen or lotion on his or her skin that must be removed prior to application. Too slippery! Please avoid using sunscreen on or near your SafetyTat, as many brands will break down the adhesive.
Secondly, and perhaps the most important step in the application of your SafetyTat, is to let the SafetyTat "set" to your (child's) skin before saturating with WARM water. To do this, please, after removing the clear top layer, place on your child's skin with your hand on top of it and let your body heat help set the adhesive to the skin for about 60 seconds (It's a great time to sing ABC's or talk about the purpose of his/her SafetyTat!)
IMPORTANT: please be sure your SafetyTat is completely dry (this could take several minutes) before touching, rubbing or coming in contact with clothing (or sheets/blankets). This will help the durability considerably. TAT TIP Baby powder! After your SafetyTat dries, and if it still seems sticky, sprinkle just a tad of baby powder on it and lightly rub.
Also, if you feel your child might pick or rub his or her SafetyTat, consider applying it on a place on the arm that's out of his/her sight, like the outside of the arm below the elbow. "Out of sight, out of mind!"
Last, since our orders are all produced individually by hand, there can be slight variation in the tattoo's tack. Please be sure to test yours as soon as you receive them. If for any reason your tattoos don't stick well, please contact us

Why does my SafetyTat feel sticky after I apply it?
If your tattoo still seems sticky after you have wet it thoroughly and slipped the paper off, simply add more water to the top. This "stickiness" is just residual adhesive from the protective water soluble paper you have removed. Also, it's important to please let your SafetyTat dry thoroughly before coming in contact with clothing (or sheets/blankets...It is not recommended to apply a SafetyTat to your child just before their nap!).
TAT TIP Baby powder! After your SafetyTat dries, and if it still seems sticky, sprinkle just a tad of baby powder on it and lightly rub. This is such a great Tat Tip, and it feels so nice, too!
Why do some SafetyTats look dirty at the end of the day?
Your SafetyTat can be affected by dirt and lint more so than novelty temporary tattoos. SafetyTats may appear dirty if covered with clothing, or if they have been at the beach, digging in the sand. To minimize this, please allow your SafetyTat to dry thoroughly (this can take several minutes) before coming in contact with clothing (or sheets/blankets). Our material was chosen for its thin profile, wearability and robustness, which precludes a shiny, dirt-resistant finish. For best results, apply a new SafetyTat each day.

How long will my SafetyTats last?
We recommend a newly applied SafetyTat each day. SafetyTats will last between 1-5 days, depending on where or how they're used. Swimming in chlorinated water tends to be tougher on the Tats. Again, probably the most important aspect of durability is to make sure your SafetyTat is completely dry before you touch, rub or contact with clothing (or sheets/blankets). Adding the (TAT TIP) baby powder also helps with your Tat's durability.
If stored properly in mild temperature and in the provided re-sealable bag, your unused SafetyTats can be successfully applied for up to one year.
Can you add my child's name to his tattoo?
We have chosen not to include children's names on their SafetyTats as an advised safety precaution. We do not want strangers to know your child's name and potentially lure them away.
Can you add two phone numbers to my SafetyTat?
Not yet, but we're considering that for the future.
Can you create a SafetyTat with international phone number format?
Yes, we would be happy to do a custom phone number configuration for you and we can deliver overseas. We will process your order, which takes 3-5 business days, then send via US Postal Service, which is suggested to take an additional 10 business days, but is not guaranteed during that timeframe.
If you would like to proceed, please place your order online, and leave the phone number on the tattoo BLANK.
Then, in the Comments section at checkout, please type in ALL CAPS (so we notice it right away) and state exactly how you would like your phone number to appear, and any extra address information we need.
We will not charge any additional shipping to send overseas, only ask for your patience in the process and please report back to us on how quickly, and in what condition your product arrives!
