Where is Alex?, continued
“...Well my son helped me choose the design of the tattoos (the dinosaurs). When they arrived in the mail, he was excited and wanted to put them on right away.
But we waited until the day we flew. Just before leaving for the airport, I took him aside, put on his tattoo and explained to him "if you get lost, find someone in a uniform, show them your tattoo, and tell them to call me." I asked him to repeat what I had said (and he was actually paying attention to me, for a change!), and we left for the airport.
Another safety thing I've always done is take a picture of what he's wearing that day on my cell phone (Thanks! We've added that to our TatTips on the Child Safety Tips Page!). That way if we were to get separated I can text the photo and instantly it spreads faster. Plus, I've got a picture to show anyone I stop to ask for help without having to try to remember what I dressed him in.
Well by day two of our trip, my son was reminding me that he needed his tattoo! He loved them! In fact he keeps asking for them, even though we're back! "Mommy, I want a dinsoaur tattoo again!"
They were a hit. And although I did lose my son at one point, he didn't realize he was lost. The picture on my cell phone is what helped me find him. But the Safety Tat certainly provided peace of mind, and I'll be using them again for Calgary Stampede, trips to Amusement Parks, and any time else we're going somewhere crowded.
Thanks for coming up with such an innovative and affordable safety product!”
